GV and Company was founded in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2007. It is a manufacturer and the regional representative of foreign manufacturers. The company has its own production of insulated portable towers (Leiters) and supplies in-house manufactured products to railway infrastructure, including facilities of Georgian Railway JSC.

Product purpose and scope

The insulated portable tower IGK-2 (Leiter) is intended for:

Maintenance and repair of railway contact networks, as well as adjustment of the contact suspension after installation
Work in DC and AC contact networks, including live-line work — enabled by a design based on fiberglass ladders

Key advantage: work on the contact network is carried out safely without stopping train traffic, without occupying the railway track, and without allocating a technological “window”.

In the design of the IGK-2 Leiter:

Structural shortcomings related to stability and safety, typical of standard insulated towers on the market, have been taken into account and eliminated
Reinforced structural solutions increase rigidity, stability and operational safety
The tower consists of two interconnected fiberglass ladders mounted on a wheeled trolley frame, allowing manual movement along the rails
An upper working platform with protective guardrails is designed for simultaneous work of two operators
Profiled insulating fiberglass in the ladders, inclined and horizontal members ensures high structural strength and stable insulation characteristics during operation

Insulation and safety

Shunting system

Two shunting poles with insulated handles for equalizing the potentials of the contact network and the trolley (working platform) before starting work, during operation and after completion.

Rail circuit protection

The wheel system, except for one wheel, is electrically insulated from the frame, preventing short-circuiting of track circuits for signaling, interlocking and block systems. The non-insulated wheel grounds the lower part of the tower to the traction rail.

Working platform

Designed for no more than two workers at once, with protective guardrails and secure attachment of a safety harness by carabiner, increasing safety during ascent, descent and work.
